There are many different ways of being a disobedient body, and many also to be hegemonic bodies. However, wide sections of the traditional Left within established nation-states profess a built-in reluctance to accept this: Left pro-independence movements aspiring to achieve new forms of statehood within Europe have no obligation whatsoever to display credentials authenticating their commitment to build open, democratic and cosmopolitan societies.
