The (Socialist) Future Is Not Necessarily Utopian: An Interview with Katerina Kolozova

By • Oct 11th, 2015

On the occasion of the publication by punctum of feminist philosopher Katerina Kolozova’s much awaited new book, Toward a Radical Metaphysics of Socialism: Marx and Laruelle, the Associate Editor and Designer for Katerina’s book, Troy O’Neill (a student in liberal arts at The New School, NYC), interviewed Katerina about this new work but also about […]

Frank Ruda: For Badiou: Idealism Without Idealism (Diaresis, 2015)

By • Oct 11th, 2015

For Badiou serves both as an introduction to the influential French philosopher Alain Badiou’s thought and as an in-depth examination of his work. Ruda begins with a thorough and clear outline of the sometimes difficult main tenets of Badiou’s philosophy. He then traces the philosophers throughout Western thought who have influenced Badiou’s project—especially Plato, Descartes, […]

Althusser revient hanter notre actualité (Sébastien Lapaque, Marianne, 09/2015)

By • Oct 11th, 2015

“Etre marxiste en philosophie” révèle le penseur de la Rue d’Ulm en pédagogue. Bien loin de l’orthodoxie qu’il professa en tant que premier philosophe du Parti communiste. Que reste-t-il de Louis Althusser (1918-1990) ? On se pose la question tandis que paraît en français Misère de la théorie, initialement publié à Londres en 1978, le […]

Joseba Gabilondok belaunaldi bati buruzko liburua idatzi du (unibertsitatea.net, 2015)

By • Oct 9th, 2015

Pruden Gartzia: 2015eko abuztuan argitaratua unibertsitate.net agerkarian — Gabilondo, Joseba, NewYork – Martutene: euskal postnazionalismoaren utopiaz eta globalizazio neoliberalaren krisiaz (edo nola desiratuko dugu orain?), Leioa: Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea, 2013, 203 or. — ororen buru liburu honek merezi du. Oso liburu ona da, begiratzen duzun ertzetik begiratzen duzula. Ausarta, zorrotza, zehatza, aberatsa (are, eruditoa), berrizalea… eta euskal komunitate intelektualaren barruko eztabaidaren langa oso goian uzten duena. Hain garai ezen, beldur naiz, eragin nahi izan zuen polemika ez zen inoiz gertatu (neuk ez dut horren oihartzunik gogoratzen). Gabilondo optimistegia ote den gure komunitatearen maila intelektualaz, horixe ere otu izan zait inoiz edo beste, liburua irakurri ahala. Edo beharbada kolpe huts jo du hasieratik eta mahaigaineratzen zuen arazoa ez zen guretzat erakargarria. Batek daki, famaren bideak ezezagunak zaizkit guztiz.

Hiritarkeria (Jule Goikoetxea: berria, 2015-03-18)

By • Mar 20th, 2015

Hiritarkeriak obedientzia ilustratua aldarrikatzen du, partikulartasunez garbitutako (ez klaserik ez generorik ez naziorik ez emoziorik) espazio publiko unibertsalak izan daitezela geure hiriak (Bilbolandia-Singapur eredu), eta titirik, odolik, usainik eta azalik gabekoak geure hiritarrak (Urkullu eredu). Aldiz, espazio pribatuan piztiarena egiten jarrai dezakegu, bortxatu, umiliatu, eta baita ere, egoskor jarrita, euskaldun eta pobre izaten jarraitu.

Significante Vacío (Mario Zubiaga – naiz: 2015/02/04)

By • Feb 5th, 2015

Benjamin Noys: Malign Velocities, Zero Books, 2014

By • Nov 6th, 2014

Malign Velocities works well as a critical introduction to accelerationism, and is a perfect complement to Mackay and Avanessian’s #Accelerate: The Accelerationist Reader. It deftly combines academic erudition with a journalistic eye for unexpected details. Accelerationism is not immune from criticism, and Noys’ book is a helpful reminder of that.

Hemen PODEMOS fenomenoari inguruan FACEBOOK-en eman den eztabaida interesgarri baten aktak edo aurkezten ditugu, Eztabaida Andoni Olariagak hasten du Mikel Zubimendiren artikulu baten harira: “Orduko Herri Batasuna eta gaurko Podemos (Gaur8, 2014 Azaroa 11) eta bertan Olariagarekin batera Jon Jimenez, Katu Arkonada, Unai Apaolaza eta Joseba Gabilondok hartzen dute parte besteak beste. Love and Struggle (David Gilbert, PMpress, 2013)

By • Oct 17th, 2014

Love and Struggle shares how one person answered the age-old question of “which side are you on?” … And it pulls back the curtain on a system that’s still alive and unfortunately doing too well, thus asking readers the same. What will we do to see that David Gilbert and the other political prisoners still behind bars are freed? What will we do to carry on their legacy? What will we do so that the lessons learned and shared are advanced for another generation?

Chris McMillan (ed) – Žižek and Communist Strategy

By • Oct 8th, 2014

This contribution to the rapidly expanding field of Žižek studies aims to challenge directly what is perhaps the thorniest of the many criticisms aimed at the Slovenian Lacanian-Hegelian-Marxist theorist, a charge often leveled by his would-be allies on the radical Left: that his work is ‘good theory, bad politics’.
